Dawnings
Foot flow
By Nicholas Hooper
Feel the grass beneath your feet
or the flow of water as you wade
through the waves on a sandy beach
or just standing on this earth
and sensing the thrum of unseen energy
as the the planet shifts and groans
so slowly it passes that it may seem
to be your imagination at play
but your feet on the ground
are a sign of true attachment
to what is, what flows
and whether the mind sees it
because the feet feel it
or the feet feel it
because the mind sees it
it’s that flow from ground to foot
from foot to head
as you let it all end in the sky above

About Dawnings:
“Every morning at around 5am I get up and go down to my studio. After a short meditation I write down whatever is in my head, giving myself fifteen minutes to do so. Then moving over to the piano (or a more portable instrument like my Ukulele when I'm away), I improvise and record a piece of music inspired by whatever words I just wrote. It is a great way of keeping both my writing and my composing going and I call these small creations Dawnings. They are mostly unedited, like sketches, so that they keep that fresh feeling of an early morning discovery.”
