Dawnings
Dare
By Nicholas Hooper
Dare to take a path unknown
Dare to try and help another
Dare to care for a future world
where life does not end.
Don’t be frightened to seem a fool
Don’t be frightened to take a risk
Don’t be frightened to make a change
to help make a future for us all.
Dare to look at other views
Dare to say what seems so true
Dare to listen, dare to speak
as our beautiful world seems on the brink.
Don’t be frightened to be gentle
Don’t be frightened to stand so firm
Don’t be frightened to sway with the wind
like a tree that would survive the storm.
Dare to say our world is lost
unless we change the way we live
Dare to see and pay the cost
so there’s a future we can give.

About Dawnings:
“Every morning at around 5am I get up and go down to my studio. After a short meditation I write down whatever is in my head, giving myself fifteen minutes to do so. Then moving over to the piano (or a more portable instrument like my Ukulele when I'm away), I improvise and record a piece of music inspired by whatever words I just wrote. It is a great way of keeping both my writing and my composing going and I call these small creations Dawnings. They are mostly unedited, like sketches, so that they keep that fresh feeling of an early morning discovery.”
