Dawnings
Don't forget the magic
By Nicholas Hooper
Don’t forget the magic of this place
Wild winds and worries have worn holes in its delicate fabric
But here your past meets your present as earth meets the sky
Don’t forget the magic of this place
So green is the valley so wild and free the hills
And soaring above all like raven and buzzard are the words of peace
Don’t forget the magic of this place
The air so clean that the trees are clouded with lichen
And fresh water flows freely down the valley in this unpolluted land
Don’t forget the magic of this place
You will be sad if you lose all the memories, vibrations and colours
To be here, to face your dreams and find your sounds is why you come back
Again and again
To this magic place

About Dawnings:
“Every morning at around 5am I get up and go down to my studio. After a short meditation I write down whatever is in my head, giving myself fifteen minutes to do so. Then moving over to the piano (or a more portable instrument like my Ukulele when I'm away), I improvise and record a piece of music inspired by whatever words I just wrote. It is a great way of keeping both my writing and my composing going and I call these small creations Dawnings. They are mostly unedited, like sketches, so that they keep that fresh feeling of an early morning discovery.”
