Dawnings
Kind presence
By Nicholas Hooper
Kind presence fill my heart
Take my hand and show me
The way to home and safety
And away from the fear that grounds me
Find that place where to open
Is to be like the rose in the sunshine
And to know that the warmth of the shared heart
Can bring us all to peace and braveness
And in your arms please hold me
And with your eyes please see me
And with your ears please hear me
As I face that fear that grounds me
That space, that time, I give to you
To soothe and nurture all my wounds
That life has made and I’ve made more
To bring me home to your love and care.

About Dawnings:
“Every morning at around 5am I get up and go down to my studio. After a short meditation I write down whatever is in my head, giving myself fifteen minutes to do so. Then moving over to the piano (or a more portable instrument like my Ukulele when I'm away), I improvise and record a piece of music inspired by whatever words I just wrote. It is a great way of keeping both my writing and my composing going and I call these small creations Dawnings. They are mostly unedited, like sketches, so that they keep that fresh feeling of an early morning discovery.”
