Dawnings

Lead me down

By Nicholas Hooper

I’ll lead you down to a place where the willows dance
Where the river runs bringing all that chance
of nature’s best all dressed in green and brown
as the waters pause and the sun shines down

And there you’ll find such a peace at last
as still waters rest before flowing fast
down through rocks and trees to the bridge that spans
the sad world of can’t, the glad world of can

That true release of the water’s flow
is the happy way for the soul to go
So with gladness now sit and rest your feet
before flowing on your future to meet

About Dawnings:
“Every morning at around 5am I get up and go down to my studio. After a short meditation I write down whatever is in my head, giving myself fifteen minutes to do so. Then moving over to the piano (or a more portable instrument like my Ukulele when I'm away), I improvise and record a piece of music inspired by whatever words I just wrote. It is a great way of keeping both my writing and my composing going and I call these small creations Dawnings. They are mostly unedited, like sketches, so that they keep that fresh feeling of an early morning discovery.”
