Dawnings
Where flows?
By Nicholas Hooper
Where flows that breeze the lifts the blossom?
Where flows that wind that circles the earth?
Where flows that feeling that all is connected?
In my heart, in my heart.
Where drives the mower that cuts down the grasses?
Where drives the tractor that cuts down the trees?
Where drives the ambition that splits nation from nation?
In my head, in my head.
Hope for the simple and hope for the ready
to take on the proud and the powerful man.
Hope for the gathering, the caring of people
to take on destruction, to take on the greed.
Where flows the hope and where flows the breeze?
Where flows the brave and where flows the wind?
Where flows the current of love round the world?
In my heart, in my heart.

About Dawnings:
“Every morning at around 5am I get up and go down to my studio. After a short meditation I write down whatever is in my head, giving myself fifteen minutes to do so. Then moving over to the piano (or a more portable instrument like my Ukulele when I'm away), I improvise and record a piece of music inspired by whatever words I just wrote. It is a great way of keeping both my writing and my composing going and I call these small creations Dawnings. They are mostly unedited, like sketches, so that they keep that fresh feeling of an early morning discovery.”
