Dawnings

On a morning rare

By Nicholas Hooper

It comes to me on a morning rare
That I find a god that I knew was there
And in figure fine and in nature fair
She adorns the world with her flower-strewn hair

As the dusky light turns to fresh and warm
Her coat gleams green with such glistening charm
And the blue of her eyes keeps my steps from harm
As I walk the way through her land so calm
