Dawnings

fresh air

By Nicholas Hooper

come out into the fresh air
and uncurl those fearful hands
and feel the breeze on your face
as wisdom blows around the earth

the words of love are bourn on this wind
as the motes circle with the flies and bees
the butterflies and birds fly so fast
it seems impossible to us earthbound beings

but in your mind the air blows on
finding gaps in your fortress and holes in your fences
so wisely let these streams of life in
and open like the flower at dawn
