Dawnings

in the corridors

By Nicholas Hooper

in the corridors of fear and dreams
I saw a light of reality
it came as a small speck,
a chink, as it were, in the armour
of that tyrant who would dominate
and tell the lies that kept me bound

and this light, strangely, came from me:
a glint in my eye
a glint of truth
that if you would take on
that monster of darkness
you must look to yourself
and realise your true worth
and love, and love, and love
